Thank you for visiting our website. We hope the information available here will be useful to existing parents and carers, and to those who are looking to bring their children to Mendham Primary School and Nursery.

Nature Explorers have been looking at the different thickness of wood needed to light a fire. They found out that Tinder is the first stage needed before any wood is used. Then you move onto wood. Stage one being kindling, followed by wood the same thickness as your little finger, moving up to the thickness of your thumb, then the thickness of a 2p and finally by larger pieces of wood. The children went on a hunt around the site to find sticks and wood to organise them into these stages.

Forest Friends looked at the key elements required for having a successful fire. Fuel- things that burn, heat- ignition then maintaining, and oxygen-air around, this is known as The Fire Triangle.

Mendham will be having a special Number day next week where we will dress up as a digit or our favourite rock star whilst having a focus on our Maths skills and #TTRockstars.

What will happen in the Disney film Elemental?? come along to film club to see
Mendham Primary School are taking part in this:

Forest Friends continued to practice laying types of fire structures. During Forest free time the children have had time to make dens, experiment in the mud kitchen making some interesting potions and played a tactical game called Fire in the Forest.
